Hands touch the soil, nurture the vines, and ultimately bring wine into being.
This imaginary wine lounge draws inspiration from the weathered vineyard worker’s hands depicted on the label of Orin Swift’s Papillon.
Within a vast interior of deep blue marble, monumental hands gently cradle a cluster of grapes. More than an ornamental sculpture, they embody terroir, labor, memory, and respect for the human touch that carries winemaking from one generation to the next.
Polished stone, darkened metal, and restrained pools of warm light create an atmosphere of solemn intensity. The lines, scars, and textures of the hands resemble geological strata, revealing the hidden life and history contained within a single grape.
Rather than reproducing the flavor of a wine as an interior, this speculative work attempts to translate the philosophy, craftsmanship, and accumulated time held within a bottle into architecture.
